The Cure for Writer's Block

I was suffering so badly from writer's block that I was ready to give up. Then I read this fabulous book and from then on, I've considered Natalie Goldberg one of my godmothers.

Gabriel Rico's book is an essential masterpiece (IMHO) for writers. It offers a lot of great exercises that help you increase your fluency. She focuses on the bicameral brain. While there's always been talk about who's a left-brained or right-brained person, Rico believes that writers should try to strike a balance between both hemispheres of their brain. For the left side side of the brain helps in giving one structure and logic, the right side is the storehouse of creativity and helps us to understand and use literary elements and poetic language. By the way, good musicians share these same qualities.

Hacker and Godard's book follows the path created by Peter Elbow

Peter Elbow (I know, he has a funny name) by most accounts, originated the practice of freewriting, which has significantly helped me to become a more fluent writer.
